Say No to Junk Mail!

I went onto Royal Mail’s website and they have this form (https://www.royalmail.com/…/D2D-Opt-Out-Application…) that you fill out and post to them to stop junk mail. You can even just put a note on your front door saying “No junk mail please” and this is widely accepted by local postmen too.

Built a small garden pond for frogs, toads, newts etc

I do a few gardens in the surrounding streets where I live and find many frogs, toads even the odd newt in grass, under plants etc. Whenever I find one in a garden where it’s only water access is the moist quickly drying grass, or just unsuitable for whatever, reason I stop what I’m doing to catch it and take it to my pond. I’ve always had the pond in the back garden but I decided to build one in my front garden this year because the streets’ children like to rescue them with me now and they needed to get me for access to back garden, but now my little helpers can access the rescue pond without disturbing (lol) me. It’s just waiting for plants and rocks to arrive for added enrichment!

Dispose of cooking oil properly – not down the drain!!

Cooking oil should never be poured down the sink. This is because the fats congeal, solidify and form blockages in sewage systems. The oil that doesn’t congeal can end up in waterways where animals live, causing oxygen levels in the water to drop, damaging habitats and threatening wildlife.

Instead, wait til the oils and fats cool down and congeal, then wipe them up using kitchen role and dispose of in your bin. Or, collect pour them into a sealed container and take it to your nearest waste/recycling centre.
