Littlestone litter pick

Number Of Participants: 5

We took Nanny and our litterpickers down to the stoney beach. We collected quite a lot of rubbish from the street on our walk down there. At first glance the beach looked quite clean but as our eyes became adjusted to the textures of the stones the little bits of rubbish started to appear. Bottle tops and broken bits of plastic cup were common. Daddy found a broken bit of circuit board (he always finds these). The amount of plastic fishing net and twine was worrying, it was tangled up in seaweed that had been washed above the tideline in recent storms.
It was sad to see a dead seal on the boat ramp. We weren’t allowed to go and have a look at it, it smelt really bad. We hope our beach clean helps protect the wildlife.

A few people spoke to us, thanked us or said it was a good idea and they would consider doing it themselves. I did one thing but that can have ripples. Hope to see more people with their grabbers on the beach soon!
