Save Money

Collect rainwater for your garden

With the recent storms, now is the perfect time to start collecting rain water for your garden.

Watering the garden with a hose pipe uses 1,000 litres of water an hour!

By collecting rain water, you can save money on your water bill and fill up 450 water butts over the entire year!

The easiest way to do this is to pop a wooden barrel – or any type of large container – underneath the roof drainage pipes and… ta-daa! If you wanted to take it a step further, you could install pipes that redirect the water from the gutter, straight into your soil beds.

I saved toilet roll inners for planting seeds

To save on buying plastic pots I saved up all our toilet roll inners to use to start my vegetable seedlings this year!  I got my family to save theirs too and I will repay them with vegetables later in the year.
